About Ami Lee, MA Student Intern
Individual & Couples Therapy
Let's Talk about the root issue
Hi! My name is Ami Lee (she/her), a student intern at Modern Love Counseling completing my Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy from Regis University. I am supervised by Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Veronica Walton and offer discounted counseling services ($95) as I complete my Master’s Degree.
My goal is to connect with clients and help them help themselves by providing tools and methods to not only resolve current issues, but also any issues that may arise in the future.
I like being genuinely curious about my clients to better understand them in an authentic way and I enjoy providing openness and support without judgement in the therapy room.
Connection is an important part of human interaction, and I believe that to be true in any type of relationship, whether that’s personal, familial, or with clients. It’s vital to not only form the connection within a relationship, but also have a strong foundation of trust, which is what I aim to build with my clients. I strive to create a safe and comfortable space for clients to be able to freely and openly speak their mind. My focus is on better communication through emotional vulnerability and working on the ability to express your needs and being heard in the way that you want to be heard.
I would love to work with clients who are open to change and willing to put in the time and effort it takes to make those changes. No matter how big an obstacle may seem, there is nothing that can’t be solved if there’s dedication to resolving the issue.
Individual & Couples Counseling
Relationship Therapy
My favorite part of studying Marriage and Family Therapy is the perspective of seeing the clients and problems as systemic, meaning, we look at the issue in a multifaceted way. We look at not only the client but also their environment as well as social circles to see how the problem is being impacted or brought about. This is especially true when working with relationships because in most cases, issues are not single-sided, and everyone involved has played a part in perpetuating the problem. My passion is helping clients get down to the root of the presenting problem and figure out how each person is keeping the cycle going, as well as how to aid in solving the problem in a positive way
My Areas of Interest
1
Non-monogamous Relationships
Whether you’ve been in non-monogamous relationships for years or newly trying it out, I want to help in forming healthy boundaries and communication fit specifically to you, as well as your partner(s). Relationships can be hard even between just two people, but adding multiple partners can bring to light new issues that you’ve never thought of dealing with before. Let’s navigate those hardships together and find what works best for you and your partner(s).
2
working on self
It’s difficult to focus on others when you barely have time for yourself, whether that’s in the physical or emotional sense. It’s important to put yourself first at times and make sure you’re in the right mind space to offer your time to others, including everyday tasks like work, school, relationships, or socializing. We can work on prioritizing what’s important to you at this stage in your life and how you want to organize your time to benefit you best.
3
Sex positive approach
Talking about sex in a comfortable environment free of judgement can help you better understand your needs as well as being able to communicate those needs. I want to help you feel connected to yourself as well as your partner(s) in a way that feels supportive, shameless, and empowering.
