About Kristina Zakir, MA, mft-c

Relationship & Individual Therapy, Premarital & Parent Counseling

Let's Talk about embracing your journey

Hey there! My name is Kristina Zakir (She/Her) and I’m a Relationship Therapist dedicated to guiding you through the ups and downs of your journey. I believe in embracing the beautifully messy process of therapy, where we work together to create a safe and supportive space. Whether you’re looking for individual support or couples therapy, I’m here to help you explore your past, present, and everything in between.
I’m a Floridian who has found herself in the Mile High City. How did I end up here? After dreaming of this hypothetical life in Colorado, my family and I took the leap and moved here in 2020. Right at the start of the pandemic! Navigating how to start a life in a new place with my husband, and our child was tough, but thanks to the Coloradan charm, we felt quickly at home.

I graduated from Palm Beach Atlantic University in Florida with my Master’s in Counseling. I double majored and specialized in Marriage & Family therapy, and School Counseling. I have experience working with couples from all walks of life and individuals from teenagers to adults. Deep connection excites me. The minute I sit down with you and hear your story, I become your number one reader. I have always been an “in my feelings” type of person. I was labeled “sensitive” as a kid but as I grew into my own I became aware of my empathic ability and learned to nurture this gift throughout my career.
My ideal clients are those who don’t take themselves too seriously but are serious enough to put in the work and time to reach all their desires in and out of our sessions. They are set on making changes in their lives and are open to being vulnerable and digging past the surface. I believe our early relationships shape how we show up in life, and that’s what we’ll explore together. I use a mix of therapeutic approaches, like EFT, Attachment theory, Inner Child work, and IFS, to guide us on this journey.
You can look forward to our sessions being laid back and full of insights. Building a strong relationship with you is my top priority, and once we’ve established that comfort and safety (and I haven’t scared you off with my goofy humor!), we’ll dive into your past to get a clear picture of who you are today. If you’re here for couples therapy, you’ll find a similar approach. The great part is, you’ll get to see your partner’s growth throughout this journey with you.
When I’m not in therapist mode, you can catch me getting way too emotionally invested in fantasy fiction books, crafting with my daughter, or debating with my husband about which coffee shop to try next to keep us happily caffeinated!

Relationship & Individual Therapy

Finding strength in vulnerability

Being human means dealing with more changes than we might like, and facing these transitions on your own can be tough. I want you to know that my goal is to meet you exactly where you are and help you feel truly seen. Whether you’re adjusting to life as a new, sleep-deprived parent, deepening a long-term relationship, or searching for meaning in your life, I’m here to support you through it all. Whatever you’re going through, I’d be honored to be there for you.
